FBC Ministry Internships

First Baptist Church of Burlington, N.C., has established two ministry internships, one in Christian education and one in youth ministry. We are seeking students in their first or second year of divinity school or seminary who have a clearly defined sense of calling to either of these two ministries. Resumes should be sent to: P.O. Christian Education Intern
The Christian Education Intern shall serve the First Baptist Church by providing a comprehensive Christian Education ministry with primary focus being given to adults. This ministry shall include:

 

1. The organization  of the Sunday Morning Bible Study program for adults to include a systematic plan for enlisting, equipping, empowering, and enabling leaders for the Sunday Morning Bible Study;

 

2. A regularly maintained program of Outreach through the Sunday Morning Bible Study program;

 

3. Adjunct opportunities for Bible study and other topics conducive to Christian development offered at times and places compatible with flexible schedules;

 

4. The use of worship as an opportunity for Christian education;

 

5. The pastoral care of persons engaged  in the Christian Education Ministry of First Baptist Church;

 

6. A focused emphasis on missions education and hands on participation by adults.

 

The Christian Education Intern shall work under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor.

 

Youth Ministry Intern
The Youth Ministry Intern shall serve the First Baptist Church by providing leadership to the church's ministry to Youth (grades 7 - 12) and their families. This ministry shall include:

 

1. A comprehensive program of Bible study to include Sunday Morning Bile Study and one other Bible study gathering each week;

 

2. A focused involvement in missions which encourages Youth to engage in hands on missions on a regular basis;

 

3. An active presence in the day to day lives of the Youth;

 

4. Recreational and social activities in which Christian interaction among Youth is encouraged;

 

5. Worship participation by Youth on a regular basis through attendance and leadership in worship;

 

6. Systematic interaction with parents of Youth to provide support and guidance in matters pertaining to the Christian development of Youth;

 

7. Pastoral care to persons within the focus of the Youth ministry to include students, leaders, and parents of Youth;

 

The Youth Ministry Intern shall work under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor.
